Belted Galloway
The Belted Galloway originated in Scotland and is renowned for thriving in a wide range of climates — including harsher environments. Recognisable by their distinctive broad white belt, Belties can be black, red, or dun (a lighter dilution of black).
We chose Belted Galloways for Simsara Farm because they combine the traits we value most: a quiet, calm temperament, strong maternal instincts, and they’re naturally polled (no horns). They’re also well known for producing beautifully marbled meat.
Calm temperament and strong maternal instincts
We’ve had many Belted Galloway calves born on Simsara Farm, and it’s always a pleasure to watch the cows bond with and protect their babies. The breed’s maternal nature is one of the reasons they suit farms where temperament truly matters.
Easy calving
Belted Galloway calves are typically born small, and in our experience the cows calve easily. To date, we haven’t needed to intervene or assist a single Belted Galloway birth on Simsara Farm.
Exceptional genetics
Our herd includes both registered and commercial cows, selected for exceptional bloodlines and genetics.
